Henschel Business Services is owned and operated by Marilyn Henschel. Marilyn was the managing partner of an art business, based on Vancouver Island, from 1989 to 1998, that specialized in the promotion, retail and wholesale of First Nations’ art. This “small” business started with an office in a garage and developed into a number of galleries and participated in various art shows from the west coast to Edmonton, to Los Angeles to New York. Through this experience, she gained practical hands-on experience in all areas of bookkeeping, staffing, payroll and organization.

In 1998, Marilyn moved to Ottawa ready for new challenges. She began working for a food broker and marketing company as office manager. Later that year, she became the bookkeeper for her first client, slowly began reducing her hours as office manager and took on more bookkeeping clients.

To supplement her practical experience, she enrolled in Ottawa’s Algonquin College Bookkeeping Certificate program. This program was successfully completed in December 2004.

Henschel Business Services now employs 14 people representing over one hundred years of practical business experience.
